Was going to pick ones of these up, but a couple of reviews on it said it wasn't that good, let us know what it's like Danni.

Already have like 5 of the good old original Megadrives, but can never get enough Sega. Plus would be easier than having to dig one of them out and finding the cables all the time.

Taken from the other thread on the old WCF:

I picked one of these up Yesterday. Didn't actually plan on getting one, but I saw it whilst I was out and went for it.

I already own 5 original Megadrives, so I really didn't NEED to get this, but got it because it's somewhat of a novelty.

Well I was pretty shocked at how small it was, I knew it was going to be small, but wow, it's like 10cm x 8cm. The controllers are modelled after the 6 button Megadrive pad, but are slightly smaller, though they use the same connections as the originals, so you can use one of those instead of the bundled ones.

Right, first thing I noticed when playing the in-built games, the sounds is off, and it's quite annoying. Some of the less known games aren't too bad because the themes aren't well known, but Sonic and Knuckles and Golden Axe's themes sounds really slowed down. I haven't tried all of the games, but I've read other places that they all have similar problems.

Cartridges, well the couple I tried in it seemed OK, again the sound was a little out of pitch on them, so it seems that there's a general issue with the audio on this machine. But audio problems aside, the games play fairly good.

Basically, If you're someone who's into retro games or a collector of novelty game items, then this is worth picking up, but if you're looking for a Megadrive to replay games you haven't played in years, then I'd recommend picking up a pre-owned one from eBay, you can find them in great condition for around the same price as this console.

Saying that, this machine does have a very nice feature in that it can play games from any region. The cartridge slot is fitted to accept both NTSC and PAL cartridges and has a switch on the back to change between NTSC and PAL. You can pick up Japanese Megadrives on eBay which play any region game, but the prices tend to be pretty high, unless you get lucky. So if you're looking for a quick and cheap way to play games from a different region, this may be something to consider.
